Sirao Flower Garden: Where Romance Meets Nature

The colors played with the gentle mountain breeze while butterflies and bees flutter by. It’s so romantic and you imagine him singing your favorite song with the murmurs of the wind and the colors of the earth. You are not in wonderland. You are in Sirao Garden Little Amsterdam.

I have a green thumb and nature holds a soft spot in my heart. Hence, this 8000-sq meter garden truly captivated me. The weather was gloomy when my friends and I went there, adding more romance to the already-romantic scene.

If you are like me who find refuge in nature, Sirao Garden is a must-go-to in your list. It’s a good place to spend time—probably alone or with your loved one. How is that?

How to get there?

Sirao is a mountain barangay which is approximately 17 kilometers from the metropolitan Cebu City. Your starting point is JY Square in Lahug, Cebu City.

It is advisable to drive your own motorcycle or car going there. Nonetheless, there are motorcycles for hire, locally called habal-habal, near JY Square. The round trip fare is about 200 to 250 Philippine pesos.

The road going there is already concrete. Tourism drove the government to invest into this infrastructure.

Don’t be surprised if you see two different gardens upon reaching the place. The one I recommend is the original Sirao Garden Little Amsterdam. Upon reaching the place, you’ll be greeted by another Sirao Garden (it has a different owner). You just have to walk or drive a little further to reach your destination.

What can you do there?

The place is ideal for flower lovers, photography aspirants, and anyone who wants to commune with nature.

The entire place is teeming with different kinds of flowers—celosias, daisies, cockscomb, China asters, petunias, sunflowers, among others. There’s a space in between each plot so you have a chance to strike a pose for a good Instagram post.

There’s a good news for coffee and tea lovers too. They’ll open a coffee and tea house inside the garden soon. The owner, Elena Sy-Chua, enthusiastically showed me the shop which resembles that of your cozy living room.

For the romantics, it is a a good place to hold hands while savoring the beauty of the flowers. Well, you may try to kneel and get her “I do” too. It’s surely a moment to remember.

So schedule your next stress-relieving trip now.
