#SummerFun: Exploring Genesis Valley

What an amazing day if you wake up with the pool and the scenic valley overlooking your terrace. Photo by James Patrick.

It’s time for you to loosen up after much stress. Surely, you have been suffocated recently. Reboot yourself at the Genesis Valley where you can commune with nature away from the hustle and bustle of the city life.

Located at Cabangahan, Consolacion, Cebu City—a good one-hour drive from the heart of the metro—this secluded haven guarantees relaxation at its best. This place is a good spot when all you want to do is rest, swim on the pool, or perhaps read your favorite book from one of the tree houses and villa overlooking a good part of the resort. It really is a perfect place to unplug yourself from the world—although there is still little to above-average cell phone signal to keep you updated.

You may want to go alone or bring your friends and family along. Whatever you choose, this haven by the valley spells out true relaxation.

Let the panoramic view from the tree house add romance to your day.

Fun and Recreation
Are you in the mood of working out or simply have fun? The resort boasts itself of a spacious grounds perfect for early morning jog. They also have playground with some concrete gym equipments. Stretch those muscles out through with their mini-basketball court or simply walk around the place.

If you’re tired, you can have a dip at their four-foot deep swimming pool. At first, I was frustrated upon learning the depth of the pool but it made sense later on. It was really designed for recreation (i.e. water games). It is adjacent to the Jacuzzi so you can give yourself a good bubble bath while enjoying the heat of the sun and the whoosh of the mountain breeze.

Are you with friends for a picnic and have no plans of staying for the night? You can still use the pool until 5:00 PM.

Bird lovers can have their nook here, too. The resort has caged peacock, hornbills, golden peasants, doves, and chickens of different features. Unfortunately, you are not allowed to feed them. A caretaker told me that they used to have plenty of birds but a good number died at the onslaught of typhoon Haiyan. For now, they are breeding and acquiring more.

I am always enthralled with birds--and Genesis Valley has a some of them.

Go beyond the usual camping you do with your friends. This mountain resort offers tents that can accommodate up to 15 persons, or you may want to squeeze more in.

What else could be more romantic than sharing a glass of wine from the terrace overlooking the pool? It’s perfect for wallowing through good old memory lane too. Thus, you can book the villa or the tree house. The poolside villa has two bedrooms, a living room, dining room, and a kitchen. On the other hand, the tree house is good for a small group.

Weddings can also be held at the romantic chapel. It gives you a panoramic view of the resort and the setting sun on the other side.

How I wish they have a massage spa, too!

How to get there?

I would recommend you bringing your heavy-duty car or motorbikes going there. However, there is public transportation still in the area. Depending on where you came from, ride a jeep going to Fooda in Consolacion. Habal-habal (motorbike for hire) will take you to the resort.

Another route is in Pit-os. Ride a jeep to Pit-os then take the habal-habal to the resort. I recommend this route since the road is not so bumpy and there’s less cliff along the way. Moreover, it’s safer because houses lined up the street.
